New intermodal connection to Turkey
Amber Rail started a cooperation with the Turkish operator “Turkrail”. The new Turkish company is operating since 2017 intermodal blocktrains between the main Istanbul intermodal terminal Halkali and the Austrian capital.
The current setup of the train: one roundtrip per week . The transit time is 5-6 days. Amber Rail supports Turkrail as an intermodal train operator, based on the production in Hungary and Austria. The train has a stop in Sopron, which is the main HUB for Amber Rail. From here, Amber Rail can offer:
– trucking to Vienna area
– trucking to Bratislava area
– trucking to West-Hungary and Budapest
In the near future, Sopron will be connected by intermodal shuttle with:
– Southern Poland
Furthermore, Amber Rail’s intermodal network “Amber Net” offers you intermodal connections to Western-Europe (Ruhr area, Benelux).

Amber Rail’s philosophy, to research and develop the regional intermodal railway market obliges the
company to design new products. Maybe, the most important one – in the region – is to replace the
“missing link” between some of the main intermodal terminals of the region.
After 3 years cooperation with the Group Trade Trans, decided GYSEV CARGO to define a new setup
for its subsidiary Amber Rail. The joint venture was established for develop the forwarder’s activity
on the Central European north-south railway axle. However, in the meantime GYC realized the
importance of intermodal transports, and changed the strategy for its subsidiary.
